Activities: In accordance with the Constitution, the Association's Committee meets at least 5 times a year. In between meetings it carries out business on behalf of Members; writing letters to the Council and others, attending Town Forum meetings, liaising with other community groups to discuss matters of common concern etc. Its main concerns, however, are the maintenance of Hadley Green and planning issues. One Committee Member, Richard Peart, is also a member of the Conservation Area Advisory Committee which is convened by the Council to advise on planning applications. We are involved with the Hall Committees, with Derek Sagar on the Social Committee and Ian Campbell-Butcher on the Management Committee. The Committee is also represented on the Safer Neighbourhood Team's Community Action Panel, at which information is provided about the Team's Activities and priorities in the area. Two Green Clearance Days are held each year before which members of the Committee walk the green with the Council's Green Spaces Officer, to agree what work is to be done on the Green in the following months. The Spring Green Clearance Day has, for the last three years been a social event involving the children of the area hoping that this will encourage them to become involved in later years, realising the importance of their area. The Committee reports to Members on its activities at the Annual General Meeting and in Newsletters which are produced and distributed in the Spring and Autumn each year. |
